L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue
Watery L'Isle-sur-la-Sorge,north of Cavaillon, was a marshy island in the middle of the Sorgue River. The old town was built on piles some time in the 12th century. The river's numerous branches were channelled to surround it in a double..in places triple..ring of canals. There are still canals everywhere, and countless dripping waterwheels remain from the mills that once supplied silks, wools and paper to Avignon court.
Ever since a 'brocante'was first held in L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue in 1966.
Today,L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue is famous for the biggest antiques and flea market outside Paris...but the old centre, sprinkled with fine Renaissance door ways and old town houses,is worth exploring.
There are 4 main arcades open Monday to Saturday.
Many items reflect the south carved Beaucaire mirrors, faience from Apt and Moustiers, marriage wardropes. Reached across its own little canal, are more 'bohemian' in mood and good tend more towards 20th century items and collectables...art deco furnitures, vintage toys and garden furniture.
Every Sunday the permanent shops and arcades are joined by a flea market that sprawls along avenue des Quatre Otages.

Salon-de-Provence
Salon-de- Provence has been dubbed the"crossroads of Provence",for its central locations.
Terkenal dengan pusat perdagangan minyak zaitun ou olive oil and as far as I know that..Salon-de-Provence turned it into the heart of the soap industry.A few of the elaborate villas built by the soap barons survive. Mostly on and around rue de la Republique.Marius Fabre has been in operation here since 1900.Hmmm... baru teringat savon de Salon-de-Provence ada butik nya di Galeries Lafayette di Marseille.
The famous fontaine is Fontaine Moussue, since 16th century..
My hubby said that,a second famous inhabitant of Salon,Adam de Craponne,is commemorated by a statue on a small square across from the Hotel de Ville. De Craponne was 16th century engineer who brought fertility to the region by building an irrigation canal from the Durance river through the dry plains of the Crau and out into the sea.
